What we collect
Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. RunawayHair has no backend, no user accounts, and no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not receive your photos, your regimen, your notes, or any usage data.
Where your data lives
- Progress photos are stored in your browser's on-device database (IndexedDB) as compressed images. They are never uploaded.
- Regimen, adherence logs, notes, and settings are stored in your browser's local storage on this device.
- All of it remains on the device where you created it, under your control.
Camera
The guided-capture screen uses your device camera locally, in the browser. Live frames are analysed on-device to show the alignment ghost and the light/evenness/sharpness meters. Nothing from the camera is transmitted; a photo is saved only when you choose to capture it, and only to your device.
Notifications
The optional daily reminder uses your browser's local notification feature and fires only on your device while the app is open or installed. No push server is involved.
Backups you control
The "Export backup" feature creates a JSON file you save and manage. If you share that file, you are sharing your own data by choice. Importing a backup reads it locally.
Deleting your data
Use "Erase everything" in Settings to remove all photos and data from the device. Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser's site data for this domain also removes everything.
Third parties
The app makes no third-party network requests. Links to our content site (runawayhair.com) open in your browser and are governed by that site's own privacy policy.
